We were given a very fun and challenging task by Supercell: create a calendar which would immerse fans further in the Finnish culture. The idea was to define each month’s meaning in Finnish through an anecdotal image which would also relate to the Supercell universe.
ILLUSTRATION IDEA:
We illustrated a giant Finnish oak tree where each branch has a character on it from a different game. The branches appear in chronological order. Hay Day cow at the bottom and clash mini at the top. The Clash branch has offshoots, for each title under the Clash brand. Some branches have been snapped off, representing those games that have died along the way. Evidence of these fallen games can be seen on the floor beneath the tree.
CONCEPT: Tammikuu - January
The Finnish word for January is Tammikuu. In modern Finnish, ‘tammi’ means ‘oak’. And like the mighty oak, Supercell has many branches. We call our branches ‘cells’. Each cell is encouraged to grow on their own.
